NEWS: Sam Duckworth starts ‘Summer of Love’ industry events in wake of EU Referendum

Late last month, the EU Referendum saw Britons making the decision to leave the European Union.  The result – which has triggered economic uncertainty, turmoil within major political parties and deeply divided the public – has spurred on singer-songwriter Sam Duckworth to launch Summer of Love.  The former Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly man, who now releases under the name Recreations, has created the scheme in an attempt to unite the fractured parts of British society.

Under the Summer of Love banner, events will take place across the country, specifically away from computers and social media.  These inclusive, free panel debates will incorporate art, music, talks, poetry, and other artistic forms to encourage people to keep dialogue channels open.  They will also be filmed and uploaded online for people unable to attend to watch later on.

The first event takes place next Monday (11th July) at the Macbeth in Hoxton, London.  It features music industry advisor Sammy Andrews, Rhoda Dakar of The Specials, Mark Davyd from the Music Venue Trust, John Mottram of PRS and Enter Shikari’s Rou Reynolds.  For more information, visit the Summer of Love Twitter feed or Facebook page.

To coincide with the announcement, Duckworth has also released a new song under his Recreations moniker called ‘Few and Far Between.’  Listen below.
