2000 Trees festival has just announced 15 more bands to a bill that already included the likes of hardcore heroes Refused, stadium rockers in waiting Twin Atlantic, fourth wave emo types Moose Blood and Kagoule, whose brilliant album Urth was undoubtedly one of the best debut albums of last year. Highlights of the new list are The Bronx who are so far bringing their usual hardcore incarnation but at so many festivals have a tendency to break out their mariachi side (please!).
We Were Promised Jetpacks will be slogging their way down from Edinburgh to demonstrate why their heartfelt indie rock is held in such high regard, The King Blues will try to live up to the hype of describing themselves as “rebel street music” and Wrexham’s Neck Deep will prove whether their brand of pop punk is worthy of that Simpsons t-shirt they did.
If the lineup wasn’t enough to whet your appetite, bear in mind that it’s only 5000 capacity, it’s set in the lovely Cotswolds, they sell locally brewed beer and they’ve won awards for their loos. Not to mention the fact that they’ve been running competitions giving away bar tabs on their Facebook page. On top of this, it’s only £95 for a three day weekend ticket, or £171 for a joint ticket with sister festival ArcTanGent.
It’s a bargain for more than 80 bands and one of the nicest festivals around. The cosy atmosphere is second to none. It takes place between Thursday and Saturday, which means you don’t even need to book the Monday off work to recover.
