Camden Crawl 2012: 50 New Live Acts Added

crowed shot

It’s a struggle to think that there’s enough room in the London Borough of Camden for all the acts that will be stuffing stages in May for this year’s Camden Crawl, it’s even more startling to look at the quality of some of the acts on offer.

Obviously, there are the headliners Glasvegas, The Futureheads and Gaz Coombes (Supergrass), but cosied amongst the dense line-up are the likes of Blacklisters, The Big Pink, Trapped Tigers, Eugene McGuinness, Race Horses, Tom Williams & The Boat, Rolo Tamassi, Theme Park and many more.

Of particular note are a handful of God is in the TV favourites, not least among them the marvellous Baxter Dury whose recent LP Happy Soup was a 2011 Album of the Year, it was a record stuffed with infectiously dreary and romantically dour pop nuggets. Meanwhile there’s Jape who recently released a glittery album of twitchy disco noir Ocean of Frequency was a sublime treat late last year. Finally there’s Dam Mantle who has long been on the God is in the TV radar, in fact under his previous guise Animals + War his LP received the full 5/5 round these parts, now re-branded he’s responsible for some of the twitchiest, glitchiest most head-spinning avant garde electronica around.

The festival begins with an opening night event on Friday the 4th of May and continues into the early hours of the following Bank Holiday Monday.
