If you’re still mourning the death of The Pains of Being Pure At Heart‘s lo-fi bittersweet fuzz-pop songs after their recent album’s considerably higher production values and more obviously POP ambitions, then fear not! Because Bournemouth’s rather wonderfully named Bos Angeles could just be the answer to your little prayers.
The story goes that they met whilst selling ice creams on a Bournemouth beach. With only one track online, it’s early days, but “Beach Slalom“ is a gorgeous slice of melancholic beach pop, replete with a toe tapping surf beat, fired with neat riffs and dappled with swoonesome wide-eyed male vox that stare into the middle distance as someone runs off with his 99. It’s these things that elivate it to must listen status. This one short example of their sound may rattle with memories of American bands like Wild Nothing and the Drums, but listen closer because this short track displays imagination and poise that bodes well for future efforts.
Box Angeles: a name for a future band tshirt, perhaps!?
