PREVIEW: Chimers / Hidden Youth / Grinding Eyes / Tiger Island at Wharf Chambers in Leeds

When: Thursday 8th May 2025

Where: Wharf Chambers, 23-25 Wharf Street, Leeds, West Yorkshire, England

Use Hearing Protection. It may be advisable to follow Factory Records’ sage advice if you are heading down to Wharf Chambers in Leeds on the 8th of May. For it promises to be a very loud, very intense night of quite raucous punk rock/psych-rock/post-punk music courtesy brought to us by I Hate The Kids and comprising four brilliant bands.

Leading the charge will be local legends Tiger Island with their ferocious brand of high-energy garage rock which comes complete with synths and big vocals. They will not be hanging around, taking to the Wharf Chambers stage at 7:30pm sharp.

Following hot on their heels will be Grinding Eyes. The expansive Australian psych-rock trio are taking a night off from supporting Pigs x 7 on their current UK tour.

Only a matter of weeks after releasing their debut single, ‘Vignette’, next up on the bill will be Leeds’ latest emo sensations, Hidden Youth.

And heading up this hugely impressive musical extravaganza are the Aussie post-punk band Chimers who will by then be four shows into their May tour of Ireland and England.

It promises to be hot. Very hot. Get down early. Doors are at 7pm. For those not already familiar with Wharf Chambers, it is a multi-purpose venue run by a workers’ co-op in partnership with a members’ club. To get into the venue you need to be a member – membership can be obtained at the bar on the night or beforehand on the Wharf Chambers’ website for a couple of quid – or be signed in as a guest by an existing member.
