Lucy Spraggan has officially announced the new release date for her highly anticipated album, Other Sides of the Moon. Originally slated for a late February debut, the album’s launch was delayed, but fans can now mark their calendars for its confirmed release on 20th June.
Marking her eighth studio album, Other Sides of the Moon features a thoughtfully curated collection of reimagined and reworked classics from the singer songwriters seven previous records, along with two brand-new tracks – ‘Heaven’ and ‘The Lesson’. The latter, which Lucy describes as one of her personal favourites, is already part of the setlist on her current tour. An emotionally charged piece exploring the struggle of coping with the loss of a loved one, ‘The Lesson’ resonates deeply in a live setting, with Lucy’s vulnerable vocals paired beautifully with delicate, soulful piano.
Alongside the album release date announcement, Lucy has unveiled a brand-new version of fan favourite ‘Butterflies’ – the most requested track for inclusion on Other Sides of the Moon. Stripped back to reveal its raw emotional core, the reimagined rendition showcases the power and vulnerability of Lucy’s vocals, elevated by a stunning string arrangement that sets it worlds apart from the upbeat original.
The release of ‘Butterflies’ follows last month’s surprise drop of ‘Unsinkable’, which became available to stream after its emotional debut during an episode of Britain’s Got Talent. The empowering track was featured in a moving montage that followed the audition of a choir formed by individuals affected by the Post Office scandal.
Lucy’s current UK headline tour is set to wrap up in Bakewell on 27th April. She’ll also be hitting stages across the UK throughout the spring and summer, with a full list of upcoming dates available here.
Due for release on 20th June, you can pre order Other Sides Of The Moon’ from Lucy’s official website.
