INTRODUCING: MORN

MORN are a post-punk band from the Welsh borderlands. Characterised by raw, emotional vocals, screeching guitar riffs and intricate yet powerful drums, MORN focuses on subject matters of friendship, introspection, their raucous and tear-jerking take on post-punk sets them apart from peers. They are currently in the stduio working on a new single.

Hi, how are you today?
We are as fine as a grain of sand. Currently in the van heading to Swansea for our first gig in the beautiful land! Noah is driving, and Oli is feeding him pizza in a very romantic way. Noah is also refusing to use Google Maps since he claims he knows South Wales like the back of his hand….

How did you meet? Where?
We are 2 sets of siblings and have been friends all through childhood. Rob & Oli are siblings, Noah & Mae are siblings, although we are all family really. We properly bonded & formed more concrete friendships through Green Man and our shared love of Howard Moon.

What was the first thing you released?
We are heading to the studio next week to record our debut single ! Keep an eye out these next couple months…

What’s the music scene like back home?
We are from the land of MONMOUTH and although it hasn’t heard of post punk yet, we are grateful for its history as we live only a few short miles away from Rockfield Studios.

Which artists do you admire?
MAE: Robert Mapplethorpe
OLI: Gil Evans…
ROB: Gareth Liddiard of Tropical Fuck Storm
NOAH: Fugazi the BAND

Which albums do you share a love of?
Ok We’ll name THREE: Drunk Tank Pink (Shame) we all love to hype ourselves up before our gigs with an ‘a cappella’ rendition of the opening track… A Song For Our Daughter (Laura Marling), recorded down the road from us! Sticky Fingers by the legendary Rolling Stones…

What would be your dream collaboration?
We would love to get on the stage with Tropical Fuck Storm

How would you describe your music in five words?
This is it… beautiful doom.

What’s the best band you have played with so far?
Miss Tiny @ The Windmill Brixton. Incredible!

What do you do to fill the time on tour when you aren’t playing?
We play a lot of chess at the moment, we are terrible. Rob also has just got a new board on Skate 3!

What’s on your playlist?
We cannot stop listening to everything that Geese has been putting out recently. Miles
Davis, Nina Simone & Bob Dylan
have been featuring lots as well.

Are you playing any shows/festivals this summer?
Yes yes yes! We have loads of festivals coming up…so far it’s been announced that we’re playing FOCUS Wales…but we have four or five nice juicy ones…and many many dates across Wales and London. WE CANNOT WAIT.
