These are seriously dystopian times we live in and the world’s going to hell in a handcart, so what we need is a saviour of some sort. Or maybe even four.
Just as well WU LYF aka World Unite Lucifer Youth Foundation are back then, isn’t it. Manchester’s notorious mythmakers burned fiercely, briefly, played kiss-chase games with the press before coming to an abrupt end after just one album, Go Tell Fire to the Mountain.
But in recent days we’ve had teasers in the form of sandwich boards and pub jukebox inclusions in Manchester, and topped off by a mysterious email in the God Is In The TV inbox.
On Thursday 3 April at 11.11am they release a single ‘A New Life Is Coming‘ and there are lots of live dates to look forward to.
The line-up is how it was when they originally started as a band: Ellery Roberts – Vocal, Organ, Sub bass, Piano; Joseph Manning – Drums, Organ, Evans Kati – Guitar, Feedback and Tom McClung – Vocal, Guitar, Bass.
To add to the excitement – or stress, depending on how you view it – the band play the King’s Arms in Salford on 16, 17 and 18 April. The pre-sale ballot opens 11.11am BST tomorrow via the WU LYF website, with a limited general sale on Friday at the same time. There are dates from May onwards in Europe, with more to come.
