Alexandra Savior has released her new single ‘Unforgivable,’ the first release from her newly inked partnership with RCA Records. Produced by Drew Erickson (Lana Del Rey, Father John Misty), ‘Unforgivable‘ is a luxurious piece of old Hollywood femme fatale that vividly sketches out how she has been mistreated it’s both intensely personal yet universal experience for women. With echoes of 50s Spector and the likes of Lana Del Rey, it sways elegantly on strings and with Savior’s exquisite vocals.
‘We’ve all had experiences like this as
women—it’s universal,” shares Savior. “I
needed to write a song that was a mantra, so that I could stop blaming myself for experiences I’ve had where I was mistreated. I felt if I kept telling myself these things were unforgivable, maybe I would finally start to believe it myself.”
Existing between planes and genres, Savior made a name for herself as an effortlessly cool, once-in-a-generation talent and, in her new music, is paying homage to noir and vintage surrealist cinema as well as prophetic image makers Man Ray, Jean Cocteau, and Maya Deren.
Building on the success of her previous albums The Archer, which welcomed breakthrough hit ‘Can’t Help Myself,”’and her debut Belladonna of Sadness that featured stand out track “Girlie,”
Savior is taking over the helm and, with her new music, is embracing her newfound creative freedom to right a course that had left her feeling creatively adrift.
Alexandra first began singing in high school in Oregon, nurtured and influenced by a rock-loving family whose record collection included The Velvet Underground, Violent Femmes, and Tom Petty. A nearly obsessive dive into the music of Nina Simone and Billie Holiday further shaped her musical style.
As a creative outlet, Alexandra started uploading videos of her home sessions to
YouTube, attracting attention from the music industry. Releasing two major label albums led to an instantaneous meteoric rise as an artist-to-watch. Now, with her newly inked partnership with RCA Records and more music to come, Alexandra has the experience to trust her instinct and the
conviction to propel the songwriting process of her new era.
