The consistently great Mostly Jazz Funk & Soul Festival has just announced Groove Armada as the latest big-name act to join the already brilliant line-up for this year’s event.
Groove Armada will be performing a DJ set and will join the previously announced Maribou State, Ezra Collective, Goldie and War. Further new additions to the bill include local hero Kofi Stone, Sam Redmore (with a special James Brown DJ set) and the much-praised Rosie Lowe.
There is also jazz favourite Summer Pearl, the Heavy Beat Brass Band, Leftfoot DJs, and a DJ set inspired by Birmingham’s legendary Oriental Star Agencies store from The Hussain Bros.
John Fell, Mostly Jazz Funk and Soul’s Manager, said: “We’re pleased to finally reveal that missing piece from our opening night line-up – legends Groove Armada. They’ll be DJ-ing alongside appearances from Friday headliners Maribou State, Goldie and other new additions, Kofi Stone, Fila Brazillia and Erol Alkan.
“With ’70s icons War and Afrobeat royalty Seun Kuti on Saturday, and jazz superstars Ezra Collective closing the festival on Sunday, after Somewhere Soul, Jalen Ngonda and Rosie Lowe, this year’s Mostly Jazz Funk and Soul is shaping up to be a very special edition …”
