NEWS : Das Koolies single ‘Som Bom Magnífico’ + new album Pando

What madness is this? It took Das Koolies – former Super Furry Animals Huw Bunford, Cian Ciarán, Daf Ieuan and Guto Pryce – nigh on three decades to produce debut album DK.01, and here we are a mere 18 months on, with news of its follow up.

Pando is released in the spring, but today they shared the first single from it, ‘Som Bom Magnífico‘ . Electronic pop, praise be to veggie breakfast coffee and toast. Oh, the tales a rock and roll’s breakfast buffet could tell.

Taking on the lead lyrical and vocal role, Daf Ieuan, says: “Hindsight and rose-tinted glasses. It’s a song about a time when it was normal to order a veggie breakfast in hotels as a concession to a healthier life style, then following up by requesting to see the ‘Breakfast Wine Menu’. As Lou Reed sang: “Wine in the morning!”. Everyone should live like that for a while. Could be for a couple of days or a couple of decades. We’ve never laughed so much, but never again.”

In the past year Das Koolies played Green Man, Manchester Psych Fest, Sŵn Festival, Ritual Union and Ara Deg, and will be touring this May and playing Welsh festivals Trawsnewid : Transform and Focus Wales.

Pando’s release is confirmed for 9 May 2025 on Strangetown Records in association with Amplify Music.

Recorded and produced by the band in seclusion in Cardiff, Wales once more and released on multiple formats, including vinyl, CD and digital, the track listing has been confirmed as follows:
