L E M F R E C K has shared a new track called ‘Fine’ which showcases a more introspective, confessional and emotive side, with an old soul sway of mingling pianos and skittering percussion that nods towards his gospel roots. ‘Fine’ is another haunting, masterclass installment of his talent. L E M F R E C K won the Welsh music prize for ‘Blood, Sweat & Fears’ earlier his year Alongside ‘Fine’, L E M F R E C K has announced a new EP ‘We’ve Been Here’ out 2nd of May 2025 via The Orchard.
Thematically, the project navigates an inner monologue between right and wrong alongside the power of hindsight and reflection. Co-produced with Harry Edwards (Beyonce, Travis Scott), the release takes L E M F R E C K’s imprint of alternative R&B and rap to new heights and cements him as an artist to watch in UK music.
L E M F R E C K speaks on the track, “Fine is my recollection of probably one of the worst break ups I’ve experienced, especially as a typical bloke who prior to this had zero emotional regulation. The song captures what I feel is the timeline of events. Not being able to let go or even worse not being able to escape. I had the incredible producer Pete Miles co-produce this one with me, he has a perfect ear for story telling“
He comments on the release, “The whole project is about how I struggle to learn my lesson. I have always thought that if a certain situation happens again, I would make sure I made the right decisions. Yet here I am again doing the same things that eventually lead to stress”.
Recent achievements for L E M F R E C K include winning this year’s Welsh Music Prize up against stiff competition from the likes of Skindred, Gruff Rhys, Slate, Elkka & more. He also received a Welsh BAFTA nomination for his self-produced and directed BBC Documentary ‘Black Music Wales’ which featured the likes of Benji Webbe from Skindred, Jamie Jones, Mace the great, Juice Menace, Sage Todz, MC Eric & Technitronics.
In terms of live, L E M F R E C K will be supporting Children Of Zeus at a one off show in Cardiff in December, and he’s also confirmed to headline a stage at FOCUS Wales. Further dates will be announced soon.
