NEWS: Pit Pony announce second album and release new single ‘Cut Open’

Newcastle’s Pit Pony share their new single ‘Cut Open’ alongside news of their upcoming second album Dead Stars set for release on 7th February 2025 via Clue Records and EMI North. In addition, Pit Pony announce a headline UK tour for April 2025.

Cut Open’ delves deep into the raw emotions of imposter syndrome, self-reflection, and the therapeutic power of creativity. Written as an outlet for those “bad days,” the track explores the feeling of being exposed and vulnerable, while also highlighting the importance of pushing through the tough times. Frontperson Jackie shares:

“Cut Open’ isn’t a reflection of how I always feel, but I think most people experience days when everything just feels off. It’s a reminder that we’re not alone in that. Music and creativity help me deal with it—it’s therapeutic. Once the song’s written, I can let those feelings go.”

The song’s title and imagery also carry deeper meaning. ‘Cut Open’ references the concept of Brighton Rock and the famous quote about people being like a stick of rock—stuck with an unchanging identity. But for Pit Pony, that idea is challenged.

“We can change,” says Jackie. “We’re not fixed. And while self-reflection can be painful, especially when it’s made public, it’s an important part of growth.”

To accompany the release of ‘Cut Open’ and announcement of Dead Stars, Pit Pony also announce an April UK tour:
