The ever-reliable Bella Union has announced the signing of Montreal-based La Sécurité, with the release of their vibrant new track, ‘Detour’.
Described as a band that lives dangerously through their music, La Sécurité is known for their raw, danceable sound that draws influence from the Riot Grrrl movement, celebrating themes of female empowerment, friendship, and solidarity. If you’re on the hunt for something like a spicy Le Tigre and Devo cocktail, you’ll love this.
Ahead of their upcoming U.S. tour supporting The Go! Team, La Sécurité has teased their first single for Bella Union, the dancy, topsy-curvy ‘Detour’. Released in collaboration with boutique label Mothland in North America, it’s a modern dance-floor scorcher that could equally be at home in a gritty underground club. Featuring ‘tripwire-like’ arrangements and driving rhythms, the track both pokes fun at pop psychology and advocates for free will, urging listeners to avoid life’s straightforward paths. The high-spirited video for ‘Detour,’ below, directed by Dirt & Daydream, perfectly complements the track’s infectious energy and playful contradictions.
This new release follows the band’s acclaimed debut album, Stay Safe! (2023) produced by Samuel Gemme (Corridor), itself a fine introduction, to La Sécurité should you need one.
