NEWS: Lucky Iris release giddy hyperpop of ‘i guess i like you(alot)’

Leeds based pop duo Lucky Iris have shared their lucid and catchy new single ‘i guess i like you (a lot)taken from their upcoming EP ‘Something To Believe In’, released October 18th via EMI North and Launchpad+.

Self labelling themselves as “making music to dance or cry to”, the first two singles from the upcoming EP have seen the band gain widespread media attention. ‘i guess i like you a lot’ showcases more of bouncy hyperpop topped with fizzing synth lines and giddy and hooky melodies that encapsulate the feeling of crushing on a new love interest.

With a soundscape and musical approach inspired by Charli XCX’s BRAT colliding with elements of 90s dance and pop music. Maeve’s soft and sweet lead vocal as she delivers devastatingly catchy melodies above a future pop beat and lively backdrop. Commercial yet underscored by a pulsing track, the track highlights more of the band’s abilities as promising writers and performers.

Lead vocalist Maeve explains: “My girlhood crushes were distinctively differentiated from friendships on the grounds of whether I liked them, or if I like liked them. BIG difference. HUGE! It’s that sickly sweet daydream like fantasy. That slightly delirious feeling of the joy of what could be.

Have you ever felt so in crush with someone, that seeing them can completely de-rail your day? But in a good way! It’s so all-consuming that everything that was feeling difficult and heavy suddenly feels lighter and brighter. Because if I like like you, I’m going to tell you! And then everyone else! But who cares when you’re in crush!”

Mixed by Richard Wilkinson (Adele, Amy Winehouse, and Kaiser Chiefs) and mastered by Antony Ryan (Oh Wonder, Hannah Diamond, and Sugababes), the track is another glittering addition to the duo’s upcoming new EP.
