Trawsnewid : Transform returns to Aberystwyth – Fat Dog, CVC, Das Koolies, Pys Melyn + more

Well, didn’t we have quite the time last year at the inaugural Trawsnewid : Transform? Headlined by Gruff Rhys and Gwenno and crammed with new and emerging Welsh artists full of promise and on an upward trajectory, we declared winter festivals as the future, you might recall. The excellent news is, Aberystwyth Arts Centre and FOCUS Wales have teamed up once again to announce the second edition of the festival on 21 and 22 February 2025.

A choice selection of Wales’ leading musicians will perform at the two-day event and create unique audio visual experiences, showcasing the venue, the region, and of course the artists, in a special setting.

Headlining the festival, following their recent UK top 20 debut album release, are one of the UK’s most exciting live bands, Fat Dog, and the equally exciting Welsh Music Prize-shortlisted CVC.
The lineup highlights the broad range of quality coming out of Wales across
multiple genres right now, and will include Melin Melyn, Pys Melyn, Das Koolies (Cian, Bunf, Dafydd and Guto of Super Furry Animalsyou can read our interview with them here), Mellt, Islet, Tara Bandito, Mace The Great, Seazoo, Afrocluster, Ani Glass, Red Telephone, Mari Mathias, Gillie, Adjua, Eye, Ffenest, Kizzy Crawford, and many more still to be announced.

Deputy Director of Aberystwyth Arts Centre, Louise Amery said “We’re really pleased to be working with our friends at FOCUS Wales again to present another edition of Trawsnewid festival. We’re looking forward to a real celebration of vision and sound over the weekend as an amazing line-up of musicians and artists from across Wales assemble in Aberystwyth to ‘take over’ the Arts Centre. It’s going to be fantastic!”

Last year’s festival featured Aberystwyth band Ynys, who this week were announced as co-winner of God Is In The TV‘s Neutron Prize for album Dosbarth Nos, along with Teigr From Pontypridd outfit Y Dail.

Trawsnewid : Transform takes place at Aberystwyth Arts Centre 21 to 22 February 2025.
