From making her West End debut as Sally Bowles in Cabaret, to teaming up with Moonchild Sanelly on the gender-bending single ‘Big Man’, it’s been a busy twelve months for Self Esteem. It’s been just over a year since she concluded her Prioritise Pleasure era with a euphoric show at Don Valley Bowl, and to tie us over while we wait for her to launch her next era, the singer songwriter has released another new track.
Titled ‘Love Second Music First’, the track will be familiar to the Sheffield natives fanbase – played on her I Tour This All The Time tour and during last year’s festival season, its release has been highly anticipated. Serving as the B side to ‘Big Man’, ‘Love Second Music First’ showcases Rebecca’s experimental edge and her drive to continually push boundaries. A sultry anthem, it features pop-infused tones and skillfully used vocal effects that underscore her evolution as an artist since she first gained fame as one half of indie band, Slow Club.
‘Love Second Music First’ is out now from all digital stores. You can pre order the forthcoming Big Man / Love Second 7 inch picture disc from Self Esteem’s website.
