NEWS: Camera Obscura to release ‘Look to the Demos’ digitally ahead of European tour

Scottish indie-pop group Camera Obscura are set to release Look to the Demos digitally ahead of their upcoming European tour. The five demo tracks are taken for their recent acclaimed album Look to the East, Look to the West and will be available in September.

Look to the Demos is as much of a revelation as Look to the East, Look to the West, pulling back the curtain on the creative process of an album that was years in the making. Without the embellishment of a full band, the elegiac overtones of songs like ‘Liberty Print’ become more evident. Others like ‘Baby Huey (Hard Times)’ are recast as a perfect accompaniment for a twilight drive.

“I wrote a lot of these songs at the kitchen table watching the activity of two blackbirds,” recalls singer Tracyanne Campbell. Adding it was “probably the most consistent period of songwriting in one place I’ve ever managed. It was an inspiring springtime.”

The band’s 2024 tour resumes later this month in Madrid and tickets can be found here.

Look to the Demos will be released digitally on 18 September 2024.
