Spaceheads are an innovative electronic duo, featuring Andy Diagram – the acclaimed trumpeter from James – and drummer/percussionist Richard Harrison. Though they formed in the early 1990s, Spaceheads have maintained a vibrant presence, consistently releasing albums, EPs, and singles over the past three decades. They’ve also toured extensively across UK/Europe and the USA. The band gained recognition for their distinctive and experimental sound, which is achieved through Andy Diagram’s unconventional approach to trumpet playing. He eschews traditional methods in favour of using electronics; including live loopers and harmonisers, to create their unique soundscape.
Spaceheads have announced the release of a stunning 3LP box set that features 27 tracks from the duo’s early period, all remastered and pressed on vinyl for the very first time. The selection of tracks span across their formative years, drawing from a rich collection of recordings that include material from their first three studio albums; Spaceheads, Angel Station, and Low Pressure. Also included are selections from two of their captivating live albums, Round the Outside and Live 1999, showcasing the band’s dynamic and experimental energy in a live setting. Additionally, the set features tracks from two essential compilations, Ho! Fat Wallet and Compilations, offering a comprehensive look at the band’s early career.
Each of the three LPs in the limited-edition box set is pressed on silver vinyl, adding a visual appeal to the set that matches the distinctive sound of Spaceheads. The records are housed in high-quality printed jackets and include custom-designed inner sleeves that enhance the overall presentation. Encased in a luxurious slipcase that’s adorned with a hot foil-stamped design, the collection has been carefully crafted to be as visually impressive as it is sonically. To make the box set even more special, it includes a unique Spaceheads ornament, adding a collectible element to the package. Only 300 individually numbered units are available, making it a rare and limited opportunity for fans to own a piece of Spaceheads’ early legacy in an exclusive format.
Time and Spaceheads will be released on Absolutely Kosher Records on 18th October. If you’re in the US, you can pre order from the band’s Bandcamp. If you’re in the UK/Europe, keep an eye on Norman Records.
