NEWS: Half Happy share superlative new track ‘Bloom’ from upcoming EP

Half Happy have shared ‘Bloom’, another superlative new track from their sure to be brilliant debut EP ‘Conversation Killer’, arriving next week (September 20th). With Rosaline’s killer bittersweet vocals that inventively and effortlessly switch from dreamy to spoken, questioning relationship uncertainties, underpinned by nagging synth-loops. With an evocative chorus that pulls you in, it unfurls into another sumptuous alt-pop gem that merges elements of shimmering gazy guitars, electro pop textures and a properly widescreen rhythm section, we saw the band recently supporting Camera Obscura and their full band sound gets stronger and stronger and with each new release they just get better and better!

Detailing their latest release, frontwoman Rosalie Miller revealed: “‘Bloom’ is about getting caught in the middle of your mate’s relationships. For the first minute of the track you are almost trapped by the vocal and synth, just like you’re stuck in an awkward conversation. You have no idea how you can help, what to say, don’t want to drop anyone in it. Then going into the chorus has always felt to us like jumping into the sea, feels like a huge relief how the guitars and synth swell together. A floaty relationship track which doesn’t know yet whether to love them or dump them”.

Shooting up through Cardiff’s flourishing music scene we were one of the first publications to interview them, the thrilling quartet’s dream-pop, indie-rock and post punk soundscapes have already contributed to them winning the Welsh Music Prize 2023 (Triskell Award), with their vivid storytelling and raw observations melting into spellbinding lyricism.

With plaudits in recent times from Huw Stephens on the BBC 6 Music airwaves, lead single ‘Slow Down’ and follow-up ‘Well Done Honey’ have resulted in substantial praise throughout the press community. Whilst on the live front, the band are heading out on their debut UK headline tour this December, following on from a slew of previous slots with acts including English Teacher, Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard and Pale Blue Eyes

Happy Happy’s ‘Bloom’ is out now and available on all digital platforms.
