NEWS: Spoon Speaker Man release ‘Drove Me Sane’

Indie titans, Craig Walker of Power of Dreams and Archive and Dan Worton of Ned’s Atomic Dustbin and Spairs have joined forces to form Spoon Speaker Man. ‘Drove Me Sane’ is the second release from their upcoming album The Age of No Opinion and is a testament to their skill, energy and dynamism, fusing Worton’s prowess as a multi-instrumentalist with Craig’s whip-smart lyricism and resonant vocals. For OG grebos and Gen X indie kids this is a is dream combo. Together, their synergy and creative output is just as vital as ever, forming a new chapter in their extensive indie catalogue, celebrating their indie past whilst bounding into the 21st Century.

Latest release ‘Drove me Sane‘ is a classic, Indie love song, which will transport original indie fans straight back to the early 90s; a time where their first love shared the same taste in music and band t-shirts…..Fast forward a few decades and the narrator wonders how their lives turned out. Sonorous melismatic, vocals weave between bone-deep baselines, awash with smoky melodic motifs. Soaring with a lush polyphonic wall of sound and haunting harmonies, the track glimmers with anthemic indie riffs. Rich with rhetorical questions, the themes are reflective and universal. The track is powerfully driven with the kinetic guitar riffs and intense bass lines to ignite the vocals.

Walker said, “The video for ‘Drove Me Sane’ is very much a family affair, directed beautifully by Dan’s wife Kerry Worton and starring Dan’s super talented daughter Ro Worton who is also a member of the mighty Sumwotgrrl . My son Oscar was cameraman on all my shots..probably why I look so relaxed and having fun.”

Spoon Speaker Man, will release their powerful album The Age of No Opinion in October and will mark the occasion with a tour of the UK in November joined by fellow Power of Dreams member, Keith Walker from The Bollox and Jason Brown, from Brix and the Extricated and Tom Hingley and the Lovers.

Together with Dan and Craig, they are a true indie super group. They will be playing tracks from Ned’s, Power of Dreams and Spoon Speaker Man on their upcoming tour. See dates below:
