PREVIEW: Moseley Folk & Arts Festival 2024

When: 30th August – 1st September 2024
Where: Moseley Park, Birmingham, England

A week today several thousand good people will once again be making their annual pilgrimage to the splendid surroundings of Moseley Park and Pool, situated two miles south of Birmingham city centre and surely one of the most beautiful and intimate festival sites in the country. They will all be heading there for the 18th edition of Moseley Folk & Arts Festival for what is a real highlight on the UK’s music festival calendar.

And once again it promises to be an absolute treat. Headlining this year are the English folk-rock and anarcho-punk band, Levellers, the Celtic punk band from Los Angeles, Flogging Molly and troubadour Beans On Toast (Friday); local heroes and true West Midlands legends Dexys, BRIT Award-nominated CMAT, indie-folk duo The Staves and Birmingham’s very own rising star Katherine Priddy (Saturday); Glasgow’s venerable Belle and Sebastian, folk royalty Kate Rusby, Tuareg guitarist and songwriter Mdou Moctar, and highly-revered Irish singer-songwriter Lisa O’Neill (Sunday).

Other artists who will be appearing across the three days of the festival include the American singer-songwriter, Dawn Landes, with her highly acclaimed Liberated Woman’s Songbook; Bess Atwell, whose recent Real Kind album was produced by The National’s Aaron Dressner; the 7-piece band Hejira’s celebration of Joni Mitchell’s masterpiece works; Dublin quartet The Scratch; and Jack White-approved duo, The Smoke Fairies.

Elsewhere, historian Carl Chinn reveals more about the real Peaky Blinders; CBeebies hero Nick Cope ensures younger festival-goers are thoroughly entertained; rediscovered folk icon Vashti Bunyan chats about her remarkable life; and musician Helen O’Hara looks back at her time with Dexys Midnight Runners. All of this plus comedians Mark Steel, Zoe Lyons and Lindsey Santoro, and much, much more.
