NEWS: Sunday (1994) release swooning separation anthem ‘Softly’

Sunday (1994) have released their gorgeously bittersweet new single ‘Softly’. Ladled with Paige’s effortless heavenly melodies and woven with vivid and deceptively brutal lyrical couplets framed in a cinematic backdrop of shimmering guitars and elegant percussion. Falling into a swooning romantic chorus, imbued with the feeling of a romance falling apart, as parting is such sweet sorrow. The band describes the song’s meaning, stating: “‘Softly’ is about the first time he left for the airport or the dreaded moments alone while she’s at the grocery store. Being apart can feel like ‘my neck to the knife, softly.’”

The track is taken from the forthcoming deluxe version of their self-titled debut EP, set to arrive on 6th September, and explores themes of early romance and separation. We are falling for Sunday (1994).

Another instalment from the Anglo-American band who have been capturing our hearts all year and follows the band’s previous single ‘TV Car Chase’. The original EP was released in May.

Sunday (1994) are set to make their live debut with shows in Los Angeles and London. The dates read:

23th: The Echo – Los Angeles, USA
