NEWS: San Jose head out on ‘Milk of the West’ headline tour

San Jose are a six- piece band on a pilgrimage of obsession and desire. Committing themselves to an ideology of both evolution and agitation, navigating through waters on a ship that is uniquely theirs. Existing within an entrail circus, where flesh and noise collide in ceremony. San Jose have cultivated the fields, sowing seeds and tending to the livestock. And as the chicken whimpers, a paradise forgone.

They head out on tour starting at Edinburgh’s beloved independent venue Sneaky Petes on Friday 16 August. Their gigs are a raucous, unpredictable affair, exactly what we need in these tumultuous times. If you want to dance and smile and leave all the sh*t at the door, then do check them out.

Describe your gigs in 3 words
Wild ‘N’ Free

Any pre-gig tunes you listen to to get psyched up or is a prayer circle and group hug!?
We’re quite solemn before gigs, we usually just pace around the venue or the green room. We do turn to cean in these moments, like having him cover himself in shaving foam or trying to teach him to jump – all consensual of course.

Who has most stamina on tour?
That is the question. We’ll test each other’s patience and stamina over the upcoming tour. We’re reluctant to spend any time with each other normally anyways so, the answer I suppose, is no one.

Name of tour is “Milk of the West”.  Why?
Milk Of The West’ is a line from our upcoming next single, what it means we are not too sure, we thought if we used a generic Your name no one would come. It also gave us loads of promo ideas to do with milk, check our promo videos and you might understand.

Will Sneakys Petes stage handle San Jose?
We have been in the process of converting Sneaky Petes into the ultimate church of milk, in preparation for the celebration that will be taken place. We have removed the walls and made it an open floor plan whilst the stage is now made of solidified milk and other fluids. All this has been done to make sure that the place is able to handle us to the best extent possible. We can assure the health and safety department that none of this is real, however we are allowed to dream.

Favourite post gig snacks?
A packet of froobs, a Winston Churchill esque cigar. Our favourite drink comes from under a local pizza restaurant, we tie Cean up, tickle him until we can harvest adrenochrome to keep ourselves youthful like the democrats.

The world is your oyster.  Top venue/location you’d like to play?
Any cool outdoor festival, The Barras are definitely up there, The Windmill, Brixton would be ideal also. And last but not least of course a packed out Wembley for Wrestlemania.
