NEWS: Half Happy announce debut EP ‘Conversation Killer’ and share emotive new single ‘Well Done Honey’

Half Happy have announced details of their debut EP ‘Conversation Killer’, set for release September 20th, and have shared another excellent new single ‘Well Done Honey’, out now.

On ‘Well Done Honey‘ they pair a glistening strum with simmering backdrops that frame Rosalie Miller‘s wistful vocals, her honest and open observations inspired by an emotional journey home after traumatic day at work, are both relatable and insightful. Swelling into an emotive shot of superior widescreen songwriting in its second portion, laden with tremulous guitar licks, propelling drums and a rushing yet intimate melodic hit from Rosalie, that plunges you into a feeling of hurt after being undermined and sonically echoes the blur out of the windows on the trip home. Watch the video below.

Detailing their latest release, frontwoman Rosalie Miller explained: “‘Well Done Honey’ was written in one sitting after an extremely bad day at work. It’s quite a literal song about working under a strict boss who always makes you feel inadequate at your job, and being the sucker in the system because you still want to succeed and not show weakness. All that daily emotion came out on a drive home and I ended up having the most panicked cry in the car. Every traffic light you dare look around because what if the person in the car next to me looks over, would they wonder what is wrong? Or are they doing/feeling the exact same thing as me?”. It would be sad if everyone else was crying in their cars too after a big day working for the man, but it made me laugh like I was in 1984 or something. The end of the song is me shaking myself that I made it home, I didn’t die and work isn’t the end of the world.”

Hailing from Cardiff’s flourishing music scene, the rising quartet’s gorgeous songs led to them picking up Welsh Music Prize 2023 (Triskell Award). Read my interview with them here.
