Derrero have announced details of their sixth studio album Breezing Up which will be released in September via Recordiau Prin. ‘The Drive Home‘ is the first single from the album and is released on the 2nd of August.
As a mainstay of the Welsh scene for over 30 years the members of Derrero all met at Falmouth University in 1993: after studies, they formed Derrero in Brighton before settling in Newport, Wales where they released their debut single Tiny Shoes on Size 8 Records in 1997 and also their debut LP later the same year after signing to Big Noise records in Cardiff.
Since the bands foundation Derrero have released 5 critically acclaimed albums and toured with the likes of Super Furry Animals, Catatonia, Sebadoh and Granddaddy as well as collaborating on the film ‘Beautiful Mistake’ with John Cale.
The band also recorded three sessions for the legendary John Peel
The new album was self-produced by the band last Oct at Palm Tree Studio in Kent and features contributions from Dewi Parry (Ghosts Lawns, Siula ) and Gid Goundrey (Gulp, Ghost Lawns,EYE) with additional brass from Ifan Rhys & Rob Halcrow.
