NEWS: Michael Kiwanuka returns with new single ‘Floating Parade’

Singer-songwriter Michael Kiwanuka has returned with his powerful new single ‘Floating Parade’. The track is underpinned by a driving bass line, a stirring flourish of strings, and capped by Kiwanuka’s distinctively phenomenal vocal. ‘Floating Parade’ reunites the musician with the production team Danger Mouse and Inflo, a collaboration that has proven to be such a winning formula over Kiwanuka’s past two records.

The song itself is loosely written about utilising your senses to find an escape, particularly in oppressive circumstances, whether spiritually or physically. The floating parade is the metaphorical movement of taking yourself out of an uncomfortable situation and seeking comfort elsewhere, driven almost by the power of the mind.

The track follows Kiwanuka’s recent return to the stage for a summer of festival performances across the UK and Europe, which included a stunning set on Glastonbury‘s Pyramid Stage in June, where ‘Floating Parade’ was first aired. He will also be headlining Wilderness Festival in Oxfordshire in August.

Following these festival performances, Kiwanuka will head out on a 14-date joint headline tour of the US with Brittany Howard. The tour kicks off on 29 September in Philadelphia and includes performances in Boston, New York, Vancouver and Los Angeles. Full tour details and tickets can be found here.
