Video Of The Week #285: Cornershop feat Rosanna – Double Denim

A new government, the Euros finals, and maybe some sun you never know, things could be looking up. Ample Play Records and Cornershop have teamed up to deliver ‘Double Denim’ which could be the soundtrack of tue summer featuring the breezy vocals of Italian film star Rosanna, plus a cocktail of stacatto guitars, bouncy bass lines, drum machine beats and retro chip tune snyths.

Now living in Milan, Rosanna’s gleeful melodies, joyously play in the water fountains of long hot summer night that stretch on seemingly forever, in the way only someone from such a young and populated state can. They say “It’s both a fanfare for the long nights of summertime and a reminder of the elemental heavy metal power of double denim.

The colourful video is ace, celebrating denim as a way of expressing one’s love for music with badges, patches or spray paint.  Featuring the fictional band Heavy Duty, Director Ian Viggars’ simple animation is an homage to both Hanna-Barbera and Peanuts.

Cornershop are currently back in the studio working towards a new album, more news of this when we have it, but as for now, it’s sounding extremely spicy.
