PREVIEW: Mostly Jazz Funk & Soul Festival 2024

When: 12th – 14th July 2024

Where: Moseley Park and Pool, Moseley, Birmingham, England

In a fortnight’s time we will be heading to Moseley Park and Pool to attend the consistently excellent Mostly Jazz Funk & Soul Festival. Year after year this brilliant festival brings a diverse range of great music from a host of top international acts and emerging local talent to this stunning 11-acre woodland glade located less than two miles due south of Birmingham city centre.

And 2024 will be absolutely no exception in this regard. Headlining Mostly Jazz Funk & Soul this year are the hugely influential American R&B, soul and funk group Kool & the Gang, the legendary British electronic music duo Leftfield, and the revered London producer, composer and drummer Yussef Dayes.

Joining them on the bill will be the psychedelic neo-soul artist Greentea Peng, the west London pirate radio station Kurupt FM, the longstanding and hugely successful American rhythm and blues and jazz-funk fusion group The Blackbyrds, and English electronic musician and Mo’ Wax label founder James Lavelle who will be performing a DJ set.

Also appearing on a cracking line-up drawn from both home and abroad will be Mostly favourite Craig Charles, fellow DJ Mr Scruff, UK indie hip-hop rising star Antony Szmierek, Afro-jazz 9-piece band Nubyan Twist, highly acclaimed Louisiana singer Dawn Richard, fellow Americans Thumpasaurus, English musician and soul singer James Hunter, Scots’ jazz multi-instrumentalist corto.alto, plus many more great artists besides, including the festival’s ongoing strong commitment to showcasing unsigned acts.

Music is the main staple of Mostly Jazz Funk & Soul Festival and is split over four stages. In addition to this incredible variety of music there will be a range of workshops, arts, crafts, and a selection of Birmingham’s most loved street food and drinks vendors at Moseley Park in two week’s time.
