The good patrons of the Crescent Community Venue tonight experienced a mini-Celtic invasion courtesy of Pillow Queens and Adwaith who hail from Dublin, Republic of Ireland and Carmarthen, West Wales respectively. And the two bands have much in common beyond their Celtic connection. Both are all female. This was the first time that they had been in York. They have released two albums each, the most recent of which came out last year. And within the last few weeks both have released new singles. In Adwaith’s case it was ‘Addo’, featuring no less than James Dean Bradfield on guitar (they jokingly told us they couldn’t afford to have him here tonight), whilst Pillow Queens have just brought us ‘Shudder’. They played these songs and many more besides in what was an absolutely cracking evening of live music and GIITTV was there to capture all the action on camera.
