Hot off the release of her latest single, ‘Glue Song’, TikTok’s next #AltMusic featured artist, Beabadoobee, has been at the forefront of alternative music on TikTok, with her alt-rock-meets-Brit-pop vibe sweeping through the platform. Seeming to personify the inner monologues of a generation, they couldn’t think of anyone better placed than Bea to be the face of #AltMusic.
Alt music has been growing on TikTok over the past few years, creating a space for artists to share new music and experiment within the genre. The TikTok community are here for it, regularly sharing the love for all things alternative and engaging with their favourite artists, especially emerging female acts like Wet Leg andRachel Chinouriri.
To celebrate the genre’s success, TikTok UK launched #AltMusic last year and it has become a hub for music fans to discover the best alternative artists, culture, accounts, content and music, with over 400 million views.
Beabadoobee‘s last album, Beatopia saw her liberated from genre restraints, taking the listener on a cathartic trip into the multifaced recesses of her world, between dreaming and waking, dissonance and clarity, confession and defiance, reflection and triumph, celebrating of the wonders of self-acceptance. Latest track ‘Glue Song’ was written on the road while touring across Asia and Australia last year, and is reminiscent of Bea’s more acoustic early work.
Beabadoobee is paving the way in multi-genre alt-pop, regularly sharing snippets of her work with her 1.9m followers, giving a peek into her creative music making process. She recently previewed her latest track ‘Glue Song’ on TikTok at the start of February, and fans are now loving the full release, having already used the song over 22k times to share videos about the people they love. Beabadoobee also loves to show her playful side to fans by jumping on the latest dance trends and viral trending sounds with her friends.
