NEWS: City Slang sign Sprints and re-release single ‘Literary Mind’ with a new live recording plus a new video recorded at Whelans in Dublin

Sprints are showing no signs of slowing down any time soon. After a hectic 2022 which saw the band sell out their largest venues to date, play Glastonbury, support Liam Gallagher and garner support from numerous radio stations including BBC Radio6 Music, they were included on Steve Lamacq’s Independent Venue Week tour in February this year. City Slang have now announced the signing of the Dublin four piece and to celebrate have re-released their single ‘Literary Mind‘ (produced by Daniel Fox of Gilla Band), with a new live recording. Pre-order here. In addition they have released a live video of the track recorded at Whelans.

If you need any proof of the quality of this band live, simply watch the video. ‘Literary Mind‘ is a thrilling track and this raucous rendition is how it should be seen – in all its glory. Karla Chubb (lead vocals and guitar) sheds some light on how ‘Literary Mind’ came to be, saying:
It was a pen spilling on to paper moment and a very honest account of forming a new and long lasting relationship. It’s a real deep dive and exploration into the feeling of falling in love, particularly queer love. You unlock, finally, what it means to be happy and with it comes the rollercoaster of emotions, hot sweats, fever dreams, happiness, giddiness and excitement that we’ve tried to capture in the energy and pace of the song. It feels like it only took days for it to go from a bedroom demo to us screaming it to a sold out Whelan’s, so to be able to cement that moment on track and vinyl, is a special moment for us.”

Joining City Slang’s illustrious roster marks an important moment since the band’s formation. Karla continues: “We see it as a major milestone, joining the ranks of some iconic Indie acts is exciting. We’ve no view of slowing down and hope to  build on our strong foundations. Our teenage selves would be pretty proud right now but we’re trying to play it cool.”

Sprints also confirm a number of live dates including support slots with Suede and numerous festivals. They are absolutely not slowing down…..
