Alewya is the mononym of a multi-talented artist whose prolific talents stretch well beyond the boundaries of the traditional singer-songwriter. She is also a producer, musician, illustrator and sculptor, building on the DIY roots of her creative process, making her the empowered and independent performer that she is today.
As a Londoner with Egyptian and Ethiopian heritage, she pays homage to her ancestral lands as well as the city that shaped her through her music with heady African beats intertwining with the futuristic electronics of London’s clubbing subcultures. Spiritual energy courses through everything she makes with unification drive and purpose.
Alewya’s impressive discography to date also includes singles “Ethiopia” (produced by mentor and renowned UK producer and DJ Shy FX), “Sweating” and “Jagna”.
