Having sold out its 25,000 capacity tickets in a record time of three days, you sensed that this year’s Green Man Festival was always going to be a bit special. Wales’ largest music festival celebrated its 20th anniversary edition in the familiar surroundings of the beautiful Brecon Beacons’ Black Mountains and did so in considerable style. For the first time ever the festival’s main Mountain Stage opened on Thursday when Metronomy topped the bill. Headlining an incredibly exciting and innovative bill of music over the next three nights were electro-pioneers Kraftwerk, Beach House and after Michael Kiwanuka’s stunning performance late on Sunday the festival closed with the traditional burning of the Green Man.
An extremely strong and most diverse range of music also populated the undercard including what were some brilliant performances from Public Service Broadcasting, tUnE-yArDs, Kae Tempest, Yves Tumor, Adwaith, Arooj Aftab, Ural Thomas and the Pain, The Murder Capital, and many, many more great acts besides.
And God Is In The TV was there to capture it all on camera.
