Hailing from the South West coast of Cornwall is Bailey Tomkinson, with her new sympathetic single ‘Graceland’, which sees delicate vocals that blend emotionally with an acoustic-led backdrop. Produced entirely by herself, ‘Graceland’ is a powerful track that places you in a nostalgic car journey to nowhere.
It’s not often you hear of big pop stars rising out of Cornwall, yet with Bailey’s powerful acoustic performances and seaside-ready records she is ready to break boundaries. It’s easy to familiarize ‘Graceland’ with a Phoebe Bridgers‘ track, though Bailey’s sound seems much more effortless and easy to get lost in. Mixed and mastered by the legendary John Cornfield, who also mastered well-known bands such as Muse, Oasis, The Stone Roses, and Supergrass, Graceland is expected to take Bailey to the the next level.
Reflecting on the meaning and inspiration behind ‘Graceland’, Bailey writes “My inspirations for this song came from a couple of places…obviously with a title like Graceland, it’s probably not a huge surprise that I had this burst of inspiration by Baz Luhrmann’s 2022 film “Elvis” and the journey he went on from obscurity to essentially ending up exploited by these dark, selfish, consumerist forces,”.
