Gwilym return with their soaring and summery new single ‘cynbohir’ , their first offering in over a year. It arrives with a shiny new music video courtesy of S4C’s Lŵp. featuring Hana Lili, who is an emerging artist in her own right. ‘cynbohir’ is an uplifting, shimmering song ladled with guitar hooks, a grooving rhythm and harmonies garnished with Lili’s delicate vocals.
Gwilym are currently working on their second studio album. The first, Sugno Gola (Sucking Light) came out in the summer of 2018, cementing them as one of Wales’ most exciting and popular acts. They were severely hamstrung by the pandemic, but kept writing and releasing singles and finding their sound. Since getting to their preferred studio (Ferlas, Penrhyndeudraeth, with producer Rich James Roberts) things became easier and they have been putting serious work into completing this second body of work.
Hana Lili has recently released singles on Virgin Music and is one of the Welsh acts making a name for themselves in the pop scene. Even though those singles have been in English, Hana has always made sure to remind people of her Welsh language roots, translating some of her songs and performing them on Welsh TV.
Both acts will appear at this year’s Maes B Festival, the youth music fringe event of the National Eisteddfod of Wales in Tregaron in the first week of August
