Idlewild will re-release their third album The Remote Part twenty years to the day since it was released on July 15, 2022.
Re-pressed on vinyl, lead singer Roddy Woomble said of the album ‘Simply speaking, “The Remote Part’ is the most popular, commercially successful record that Idlewild ever made. None of our other records achieved that level of popularity. So it’s the defining record for the group.’
Critically acclaimed upon release, the album peaked at no.3 in the album charts, and produced four top thirty singles: ‘You Held The World In Your Arms,’ ‘American English,’ ‘Live In A Holding Place‘ and ‘The Modern Way Of Letting Go.’ The album featured legendary Scots poet Edwin Morgan, while the video for ‘Live In A Hiding Place‘ was directed by noted German director Wim Wenders.
