The most recent release from Celestial North was her stunning interpretation of the R.E.M. song ‘Nightswimming’, produced last year as part of the charity covers’ compilation that accompanied God Is In The TV’s celebration of R.E.M.’s 40th anniversary.
Born and raised in Edinburgh, the Scottish solo artist now lives in Kendal in the Lake District and she is back with her haunting new single ‘When The Gods Dance’. The song which comes out on the 5th of May – the first of a series of singles released as part of Bandcamp Friday – heralds the arrival of her debut album due out in September.
Speaking about ‘When The Gods Dance’, Celestial North describes the song “like a tug of war between euphoria and devastation– as above, so below. It’s ethereal maximalism gone Viking.”
Listen to ‘When The Gods Dance’ for yourself and hear just how good it really is.
