The Clockworks have announced their first single to be released in 2022. ‘Endgame‘ will be available from 18 March via Alan McGee’s label It’s Creation Baby. It follows last years single ‘Throw It All Away‘. ‘Endgame‘ will also be included in their self-titled debut EP The Clockworks set for release on 1 April.
Lead singer and guitarist James McGregor says of ‘Endgame‘:
“The idea for the lyrics was to have this character who’s a bit obnoxious playing a game of pool at the pub, and as the song progresses we get to peel him back and see that the game he’s playing is really against himself. The title, apart from relating to the game in the song, is a reference to Beckett’s play Endgame, which we thought touched on the themes/ideas/feelings of the song. I also liked the way that Beckett’s play had a through line of a chess game, like this song has a through line of a game of pool.”
Formed in Galway and now based in London its a busy time for the band. Currently in Austin, Texas for the SXSW festival, they will open for the Pixies on 3 dates in the USA. Then its a number of festival slots throughout the summer.

2. Money (I Don’t Wanna Hear It)
