TV Priest have released their new single ‘One Easy Thing‘ via Sub Pop Records, the first from their forthcoming album due out later in the year. It has a slightly different feel to previous singles and yet still retains that raw edge that was so evident in their first album Uppers. The 4-piece have also delivered an accompanying video with singer Charlie Drinkwater playing a beleaguered 15th century knight on his return home from battle.
It’s an emotional watch as the outpouring of relief at being home is combined with dance performed between periods of exhaustion. It was shot on 16mm black and white stock by director of photography Kristof Brandl. This gives the visuals an added dramatic sentiment. Helmed by previous band collaborator Joe Wheatley (“Decoration”, “Press Gang”) it’s a wonderful companion piece to the track, and it’s highly recommended that you watch to the very end.
Charlie expands on the single:
“Writing ‘One Easy Thing’ was key to unlocking a more direct and personal approach to our songwriting. It’s about dealing with the small things of everyday life; the anxiety, pressures, and battles inside your own headspace – and not being afraid to show this in our songs.”
