Desperate Journalist have today announced a brand new album, single and London date for early next year.
It started with a mysterious countdown with 48 hours on the clock on their social media, silhouette pictures of the band changed in the background until this morning it was revealed.
Maximum Sorrow! is out on 2 July on Fierce Panda, but single ‘Fault‘ is out right now. Centred around a kinetic bass line that underpins the whole track, Jo Bevan’s vocals are as powerful and angst-ridden as ever. Rob Hardy’s guitars are mainly atmospheric but add the texture that makes this brand new song so different to anything from their previous album In Search of the Miraculous.

The band explain about the making of the album “Partly due to the pandemic, this is the first time we have recorded without the esteemed Keith TOTP. Instead, we recorded around the corner from where we all live at Crouch End Studios with Rollo Smallcombe. Rollo was enormously influential in making sure we followed through and developed our ideas in the studio and is responsible in no small part for how this record turned out. Not least in terms of the number of egg shakers included…”
The album is available to pre-order now over on Bandcamp, on very limited edition blue double vinyl, standard black vinyl, CD and Download. As it is Bandcamp Friday you will be making sure the band get as much of the profits as possible. Get it here
They have also announced a date for February 2022 at Lafayette in London. Tickets available now here
