Embracing post-punk, pop-rock and alt-rock sensibilities courtesy of Beach Boys, Weezer, Prefab Sprout, Jimmy Eat World, Daniel Johnston, Wild Spelks‘ new single ‘Dreamer’ once again showcases a refusal defy genre conventions and create undeniably infectious soundscapes.
God Is In The TV is pleased to host the premiere of the song today.
Scuzzy, discordant guitar strums are met with pulsating drum beats and a singalong chorus. The solo project of singer songwriter and multi-instrumentalist (guitar, drums, bass, keys, vocals), Newcastle’s Jonathon Sabiston , Wild Spelks was borne out of a desire to create a musical project without compromise, writing and recording all the parts himself.
“Dreamer speaks of recurring dreams that I often have, where I’m living in places I’ve never visited, making new friends who I’ve never met. Dreamer is about the funny feeling of these rich, vivid memories quickly fading to nothing,” says Jonathan.
Wild Spelks’ two previous singles ‘The Happy Places‘ and ‘Turn It Around‘ have already received praise from the
likes of Clash Magazine, CLOUT and NARC Magazine, as well as BBC Introducing and
Amazing Radio.
‘Dreamer’ is out tomorrow 26 February
