It’s quite rare to find an artist the days who captured the attention of a fellow artist – and music icon – to the point where they get signed by them at the age of 12 but Willa Amai did just that. Who signed her, you ask? Linda Perry of 4 Non Blondes. Now, at 16, she’s begun to share the talent that Linda saw and continues to see in her with the world.
With a voice that echoes with the emotion of her lyrics, and songs that connect with listeners on a rather personal level, Willa is proving herself to be an artistic talent to be reckoned with. Having already racked up more than 6 million streams and YouTube views not far behind, she’s slowly but surely leaving her mark on the music world in more ways than one; after all, it’s not every day or everyone who finds themselves praised by both Ellen DeGeneres and the queen of country Dolly Parton. She’s also winning over music fans on both sides of the Atlantic, and her new single ‘Ocean’, the acoustic version of which GIITV are proud to premiere, looks set to earn her many more.
Willa says of the song: “The acoustic version of Ocean was incredibly important for me to make because the song is about the simple bliss true love can be, so I wanted to create a version that didn’t just convey the simplicity with the lyrics but with the music behind it as well.”
