Edinburgh artist George McFall has just released his first single in over a year with an accompanying video.
‘The Boyfriend’ is released on the city’s Tenement Records, which has also released records by Paul Vickers and The Leg, Aberfeldy and Dominic Waxing Lyrical. In his own word, it is ‘a peer through the magic lantern of The Boyfriend’s misspent youth, an ode to the id, a fairground mirror for a friend.’ It has been described as a departure from the dark sound of his last album XIV: Surrounder towards a more pastoral sound.
It is taken from a new album, as yet unnamed, to be released in early 2021.
McFall has worked as a session musician,, producer, arranger and songwriter for a number of artists as well as releasing two albums of his own, 2012’s God Save The Clean, under the name Clean George IV, and the aforementioned XIV: Surrounder under his own name in 2019.
