Sing Leaf is the project of Canadian musician, David Como. Speaking about new single ‘Easy On You’ he says without any trace of irony or conceit that “it is the best song I’ve written, I think; real simple and clean.” And listening to it, you know what, he may just well be right.
Taken from his forthcoming album Not Earth – out on 25th September on Tin Angel Records – Como plays every instrument on the record. He recorded, mixed, and edited all the work himself before sending the songs to his frequent musical confidant Sandro Perri, who also mastered the record.
If ‘Easy On You’ is to be our barometer for the new album then Not Earth promises to be a deceptively simple affair, bursting full of fresh ideas and organic goodness but with an illusory strangeness and charm that lies hidden just beneath the surface and all of which is reflected on the song’s accompanying video.
Made by Australian artist Jordan Borg and matching mystery and imagination, the video is a surreal animation following a young woman as she charts a journey through life and love using tarot cards as her road map. It serves as the perfect companion to a delightful piece of music.
