Jaga Jazzist emerged in the early 2000s with the splendid A Livingroom Hush with its interesting and downright exciting trippy blend of psychedelic diversity. Head man Lars Horntveth has steered his Norwegian jazz-but-so-much -more project into ever more expansive territories, whilst never losing the rich melodic nous they are rightly feted for.
Last album Starfire stretched certain tracks in to 10 minute epics and the new album Pyramid expands on that. New track ‘Spiral Era ‘has been remixed by Prins Thomas who is currently one of the hippest and best producers around and the results are quite remarkable.
Evolving subtly from Starfire’s electronic window dressing into a more full on electronic funk multi genre epic with psych fairydust on top, this is a proper aural trip, carrying you along on lush waves of melodic noise with subtle peaks and drops along the way. Another masterpiece then.
