William Robertson releases his debut album Out of a Misty Dream tomorrow. In advance we are debuting the entire album below.
This intensely personal collection possess echoes of early R.E.M and Lloyd Cole these elegant folk pop songs swirl with ghostly melodies, jangling guitars and strings, each sensitively sung and hanging heavy with a wistful atmosphere threaded with various themes.
Robertson says of the record “If Ernest Dowson, Jim Jarmusch, Lukas Moodysson and Agatha Christie had formed a band and written songs about dating escorts, fruitless passion, idolising performers, mental health, Mars missions, VHEMT and thinking vs feeling, they might have engendered “Out of a Misty Dream”. As it happened, William Robertson wrote the album alone in various London bedrooms. But the result is probably similar.
