Steve Lamacq has announced plans for Independent Venue Week, his fifth year going out on the road and travelling across the UK. On his ‘Homecoming Tour’, Lamacq will be visiting the hometowns, and consequently the infamous venues, of some of exciting UK acts.

On the first day of Independent Venue Week, Monday the 27th January, Lamacq will be talking to Nadine Shah prior to her gig at The Cluny in Newcastle. As a previous ambassador for IVW (helping them celebrate their 5th year), Nadine perform will with One True Pairing as support.

On Tuesday, he will be heading to The Leadmill in Sheffield to chat to excited gig-goers and to Self Esteem before her stripped back piano show that evening. Skinny Pelembe, will be supporting Self Esteem with an acoustic set.

Cardiff is Steve Lamacq’s next stop on his tour, at Clwb Ifor Bach, for a night curated by BBC Horizons. On the Wednesday, they are showcasing a series of brilliant Welsh artists, headlined by Gruff Rhys. Support comes from Sonny Winnebago, Panic Shack, Lucas J Rowe, Hana2k, Codewalkers, Esther and Darren Eedens & The Slim Pickin’s. Money raised from this gig will go towards Children in Need.

The Thursday will see Steve at Exeter Cavern talking to Frank Turner. It’ll be a very special gig as Frank was a second year ambassador for IVW. Supporting Frank will be The Velvet Hands, Samantics, and Sounds of the Sirens.

Finally, rounding off his tour, Lamacq will be at the infamous Windmill in Brixton, London. Where he will be broadcasting his show, live, from inside the venue including a very special interview with Year 7 ambassador, Anna Calvi. The last half hour of his show will then be a live performance from Anna with a few of her fans joining Steve in the venue for a very intimate show. Anna will be following this with another another show for more fans after the broadcast with support from Martha Skye Murphy.

This year, broadcast support for the project is coming from BBC Sounds and BBC 6 Music who are on board as official media partners of IVW across radio and online.
