Dave has unveiled the video for his recent single ‘Professor X’. The track, which is taken from the Top Boy soundtrack peaked at #12 in the Official Singles Chart. The rapper appeared in the third series of the recently-revived Netflix show, also contributing God’s Eye to the soundtrack. The new video was directed by his frequent collaborator Nathan James Tettey.
Professor X was Dave’s first new solo track since the release of his Mercury-winning Psychodrama and has since been followed up with Paper Cuts, which landed at #11 on Monday’s Official Singles Chart Update. 2019 has been a phenomenal year for the 21-year-old, who has won a pair of AIM Independent Music Awards as well as Breakthrough Music Act at the GQ Men of the Year Awards.
Psychodrama has lauded as the “the boldest and best British rap album in a generation” by the Guardian and has been certified Gold. Partly produced by Stormzy collaborator Fraser T. Smith, Psychodrama is a concept album which deals with subjects including mental illness, domestic violence and the many challenges faced by today’s black British working-class youth.
