HunBjørn debuts the mysterious video for ‘Keep Breathing’, watch it below. A song from her new EP Next Summer, its icy atmosphere is layered with intimate synths, shivering guitars and evocative vocals. An enveloping cut that lingers with a sound redolent to mid period Goldfrapp or Charlotte Gainsbourg‘s recent work, it’s a battle for self-positivity with emotionally weighty subject matter.
“In the video we see a girl walking around in a house, trying on clothes, maybe it’s hers – maybe it’s not… The further we get into the story it shows that something is wrong with her. She’s battling something or someone we don’t know… At one point we see her or someone else’s feet lying on the floor. Is she dead or did she kill someone? In the end she chokes herself or the person that she was. Trying to become someone else. It’s all about standing up for your own ways and beliefs and not being afraid of doing whatever it is that you love.”
HunBjørn is the alias of Danish artist Ulla Pihl. She entered the scene last year with her debut EP In Vacuo.
She says: “I think sharing ones reflections and vulnerabilities is extremely interesting, so I have invited everyone in for an interactive experience, that presents a behind-the-scene-tour of every song, leading up to the release. I have built five websites – one for each song – that each holds different video elements. Every song appears in different settings from the very beginning of the creative process till the finished song and music video. A new digital cover for you to explore”.
